About

Tanisha Long has quickly established herself as a one to watch in the entertainment industry, bringing to life some of the most dynamic and diverse characters on screen today. Tanisha currently can be seen reprising her leading role as Layne Roberts in BET+’s hit comedy series “Bigger.” The series follows Layne and her friends as they take a deeper look at their stagnant lives and ask themselves if there’s something bigger and better. Layne feels like she’s floating along in life. Her boring boyfriend, that she doesn’t like very much, proposes to her which should force her to figure out her life, but instead she self sabotages it. Season 1 and 2 of the series are currently streaming on BET and BET+.

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Long grew up admiring the weird characters in shows like “SNL,” “Living in Color,” “Kids In The Hall,” and “Mr. Show.” Those characters really helped shaped the style of comedy she had one day hoped to pursue. Long initially went to college to pursue a degree in fashion merchandising when she dropped out and moved to New York City to chase after her dreams. While in New York, she went on to train at UCB and The Peoples Improv Theater. It was then when she really fell in love with being goofy on stage and eventually became a regular performer and house team member at the Peoples Improv Theater. From there she went on to book her first official role in Focus Features’ “Admission” opposite Paul Rudd and Tina Fey. She has been working ever since.

Additional credits for Long include: her starring role in the Emmy nominated digital series “I Love Bekka and Lucy,” MTV’s “Girl Code,” HBO’s “High Maintenance,” The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” and Comedy Central’s “Workaholics.”

When she is not on set, you can find Long doing pilates, going hiking, baking, eating fried food, and most importantly raising her dog daughter Honey Bun. On the philanthropic front, Long is an advocate for mental health awareness. She also likes to shine light on eating disorders, specifically anorexia, a disorder near and dear to her heart. Long has been sober for four years and shares her story to inspire others.
